About the Scholarship

The Friends of Welaka Scholarship is designed to support students in their journey toward higher education or skill development.

This year, we will be looking for two (2) exceptional individuals who exemplify compassion, determination, and community spirit.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your education or career, the Friends of Welaka Scholarship Committee invites you to apply. Submission requirements include:

• The Scholarship Application, including a written response to essay questions on separate pages.
• Two completed Recommendations: A teacher, employer, or other individual who is not a parent or relative that has knowledge of your academic background or skill level should complete this form.
• Completed Academic Background: Your high school guidance counselor should complete this form if you have graduated high school in the last two years. If you graduated more than two years ago, provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent.
• A copy of your high school or college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable).
• Proof of residency within the above zip codes with a state-issued ID or other verifiable form.

This past year, we were proud to award three $1,000 scholarships to amazing individuals. Congratulations to our 2024-2025 recipients:
